Builtritehomesing Vegas!
Today marks the day that the 42nd World Series of Poker (WSOP) gets underway at the well known Rio All Suits Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. This amazing tournament series will run until the 19th of July and will culminate in the $10,000 Main Poker Event. This year’s line-up looks a little different to previous years as there are a few new events that have not been featured before.
The most impressive of these new Poker events looks like it could be the $25,000 NLHE Heads-up Championship and the $2,500 six-handed 10-game mixed event as well as the $5,000 six-handed PLO event.
More Changes for the WSOP This Year
According to the WSOP event organisers there will be a number of changes to this year’s competition that will help to bring the game of poker to the masses. This includes a massively expanded television schedule thanks to an agreement made between WSOP and ESPN.
In addition to the television coverage of EVERY game, this year will see the player’s games skills improved by limiting the amount of play per day to a maximum of 10 levels. This will ensure that players do not exhaust themselves and will result in better concentration and gamesmanship.
The Best of the Best
All of the big name Poker players have registered for this year’s competition and include 11 times champion Phil Hellmuth as well as 10 times bracelet winners Johnny Chan and Doyle Brunson.
Eight times winner Phil Ivey will also be starting this year and should prove to be a formidable opponent to both the top players and newcomers alike.
