Honesty Does Pay at a Casino!

It looks like the saying “honesty pays” is one to take to heart when walking around a casino in Pennsylvania and you find money that does not belong to you on the casino floor… Just ask Had Anh Huu N. a player at Casino Resort Bethlehem who found herself falling foul of the law when she decided to pocket $240 that she found in an envelope another casino patron had lost while walking across the casino floor.  She now not only faces charges of theft and receiving stolen property, but had to spend time in jail and is currently out on $15,000 bail.

The incident came to light when a woman by the name of Katherine B. reported that she had lost money around noon. The police then requested the surveillance video from the casino and spotted Had Anh Huu N. in the act of picking up the envelope from the Builtritehomes.ca floor. She was later spotted still in the casino and was arrested despite claiming that the envelope was empty when she found it.

Well, what can we say? Anh you made 2 mistakes here, firstly you never reported finding it and then you you proceeded to lie about the envelope and the money when confronted by the police. In fact, when asked to comment on this case a police and casino spokesperson had this to say:

“If someone loses money on the street, there is no real way of proving they really lost it and no way of proving who found it. But we have more than 2,000 cameras viewing every corner of this casino. We can and will investigate.”

The chairman of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board also had a few harsh words to add when he added that anyone else finding someone else’s money inside a casino will be prosecuted:

“Every square inch of a casino is monitored by cameras and recorded, making these venues the worst place in the commonwealth to try and commit a crime. Use your own money and not someone else’s, or your visit may not turn out to be enjoyable or profitable.”
