Craps Rules

The best way to explain the rules of craps is to explain the different types of Craps bets that can be placed. It is after all the type of bet placed that determines how much a player wins. The different types of Craps bets are:

Proposition Bet

This is the simplest bet in Craps. A player bets on rolling one of the following numbers:
Any Craps: Wins on a 2, 3 or 12 roll. The payoff is 8:1
Any Seven: Wins on a 7 roll. The payoff is 5:1
Eleven: Wins on a 11 roll. The payoff is 16:1
Ace Duece: Wins on a 3 roll. The payoff is 16:1
Aces or Boxcars: Wins on a 2 or 12 throw. The payoff is 30:1
Horn Bet: Wins when a 2, 3, 11 or 12 is rolled. All other bets are lost.
Hardways: Win if it's thrown hard (sum of pairs: 1-1, 3-3, 4-4...) before it's rolled easy - 7 is thrown.

Pass Line Bets

This bet means that if the come-out roll is a seven or an eleven the player wins. They lose if a two, three or twelve is rolled (Craps). If any other number is rolled this becomes the "point". What this means is that the same number has to be rolled before a seven to win. If a seven comes up the player looses.

Don't Pass Line Bet

With the Don't Pass Line Bet if the come out roll is a two or three the player wins. They loose on a roll of seven or eleven. If a twelve is rolled it is declared a "push" and nobody wins. If the player rolls a "point" on the first roll a seven must be rolled before the point is repeated for a win.

Come Bet

This is the same as the Pass Line Bet except it allows you to set your own point after a point has been established for the entire table.

Don't Come Bet

This is the same as the Dont Pass Bet and the opposite of the Pass Bet.

Big Six or Eight Bet

If a six or eight is rolled by a player before a seven the player wins.

Field Bets

A player wins if a two, three, four, nine, ten or a twelve is rolled. If a player rolls a two the win is doubled and if a twelve is rolled the win is tripled. All other winning rolls are even money wins.
