The EG 80 Package

Our flagship product, the EG 80, raises the bar from current building practices. It is easily attainable by most budgets, maximizes government rebates, and lowers long-term operating costs of your home.

The ENERGUIDE 80 Rating is Natural Resources Canada’s (NRCan) goal for all new housing and will form the basis for the 2012 Building Code. All homes in BC in 2012 will require an Energuide Rating of 80 according to code.

There are 3 main components to the EG 80 Package:  The Built Green Checklist, The ENERGUIDE Rating, and the available Rebates.

1. The BuiltGreen™ Checklist

The BuiltGreen™ checklist forms the foundation of the program. It allows for four Levels of Achievement, show below as Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Points are awarded based on the minimum ENERGUIDE Rating with additional points selected from each of the eight other areas of the menu/checklist. The customer can choose from a wide variety of "green" items and achieve one of the four levels.

Once the home is tested at the end of the build, the checklist and ENERGUIDE Rating are finalized. The Homeowner receives an ENERGUIDE Label and a plaque from the BuiltGreen program to signify the level attained.

2. The ENERGUIDE Rating

The ENERGUIDE Rating rates the energy efficiency and energy consumption of your home using the ENERGUIDE FOR HOUSES software HOT2000. A range of information about your home in inputted to the software in order to calculate the rating. We start with a Base Case then put together additional energy savings scenarios to fit within your budget.

3. Energy Rebates

There are a number of rebates available for the EG 80 program through FORTIS BC and BC Hydro. These rebate programs cover a significant portion of the upfront cost of the upgrades.
